Background |
Kelly began her career working with children with autism over ten years ago. Her early training included work in behavioral support and focused on developing children's social skills. Kelly worked with young people in homes and classrooms as a wraparound Therapeutic Support Staff and worked in individual and groups settings as the Clinical Support Specialist at The Wanna Play Program (now The Social Enrichment Center). As her work progressed Kelly became more interested in expanding her knowledge and her focus to include individuals of all ages. She obtained her Masters Degree and began to expand her practice as a therapist, working with families, adults and adolescents at Alternative Choices in Philadelphia. She spent a few years working in the Brain and Behavior Laboratory in The University of Pennsylvania's Neuropsychiatry department focusing on the early symptoms of psychosis in young people. Her background in working in the world of play with children illuminated the healing power of creative expression which she now incorporates into her work.

Other Work |
During Kelly's time working with families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders she noted that many parents struggle to engage in play with their children. To support parents in this process, she developed an approach to teaching children with ASD play skills called StoryBook Play(TM) and has focused much of her work on the profound impact of play on the lives of all children. More information on this approach and these services can be found at www.storybookplay.com.
